Game Review

Game Review

I played a new game called "Yellow".

(Goal of the Game)
You have to solve puzzles or push buttons, and paint the screen yellow. Each phase has different types of puzzles.

(Pros+ and Cons-)
(+) This is very educational because you have to think and solve the puzzles to change the color to yellow.
(+) Easy to play
(+) It doesn't take time to load the game.
(+) The pictures are simple.

(-) There is no direction or explanation which parts to move to solve the puzzles in the game.
(-) Sometimes it's too difficult to move to the next stage.
(-) Its color is yellow, so probably the screen is too bright.

(Rating)
I give this game 8/10.
I would recommend it for those who like puzzles. This game is so simple that some may find it boring. However, the puzzles are pretty hard, which is better than very easy to solve, and it should be satisfying when you solve it.

I Found a Great Free Game (Cargo Bridge 2)

I Found a Great Free Game

(Cargo Bridge 2)

Today, I've played a great game.
It's free and it's also great for learning about bridges and Physics.
You can play it for free here:

This is my design for level 8:

(Bridge Design)

3 ropes
2 pieces of steel
6 pieces of wood
6 walks (floor pieces)
$2,529 left

Unfortunately, my bridge only lasted 1 minute and 43 seconds.
Look at Bob and the elephant in this picture:

He does not think this design is not good. Few materials were used and the bridge was so weak.
Can you make a better one? Please try this game out!

Transportation Survey Analysis

Transportation Survey Analysis

My research topic: Transportation
Target: Ritsumeikan university students
Number of respondents: 7

(Summary) Students answered 9 questions about transportation.

(Question and analysis)

#1

I thought most of people would choose train because this university is near the station, and many students are from cities other than Ibaraki city.
Also, it is predictable that few of them use cars because it should cost more.
However, I did not expect none of them used bus to commute.

#2

As the first graph shows that most of students use train to commute, this graph shows that use of train is 71.4%.
However, it is surprising that some of them walk to the university without using public transportation.

#3

According to the graph showing that most of students say it takes 1 hour to commute, you can imagine that most of people are come far from Ibaraki city.
I live in Kyoto and it takes about 1 hour to school. So they should be from Osaka, Kyoto, Shiga, Hyogo, or somewhere in Kansai as well.

#4

Only JR and Hankyu were chosen. I guess this is because they are only transportation that they can use around this university.
It is surprising that though JR is more expensive, they use it more than Hankyu.

#5

Many students chose 8:00. I think this is because people other than students use the transportation as well.

#6

Some of them answered that they had used the transportation 2 days, 3 days, or 4 days ago, which can mean that they use it frequently.

#7

I found that many go to school in the morning in the latter of a week, while it is around noon in the former of a week.

#8

Many people say its price is what they like about the transportation. Also, others say that they do not get drenched if they take the train.

#9

Although they answered that the transportation is cheap, JR is still expensive. Also, the frequency is inconvenient.

(Conclusion)
I summarized the questionnaire, and found an interesting result. Surprisingly, though they still use the transportation, many people commute to school without taking it. Moreover, JR is criticized to be expensive.

My Invention

An easy and portable lock for a door
"Portab-lock"

(Original Problem & Idea / Solution)
Have you used a room which doesn't have a lock on the door, or have you been lazy to get up and go lock the door?

My invention which I've named "Portab-lock" is a small machine you can carry everywhere and put next to a door, and then a small bar equipped with it bends and locks the door. Also, connecting a switch with the machine, you can open or lock it by remote control.

(Specifics)
・Put this lock next to a door, and power it although it needs a battery or an outlet to work out.
・Connect a switch with it so that you can open and lock it in remote.
・Equip a long code to control it if you want to lock it without reaching a door.
・Once you connect everything and power it, you can control the lock wherever you are in a room.

(Target market)
People
・who need help to move, such as those who have difficuly in walking.
・whose room doesn't have a lock.
・who are just lazy.
・who are planning to go to a hotel and don't know if its room has a lock.
etc.

(Summary)
Most of each room in a house have a lock in general. However, some don't, and if they don't have a lock, you would be bothered because someone may open the door without knocking and come in. In that case, you can avoid that by equipping and using this machine. Moreover, if you injure your legs or have some difficulty to move and can't move to reach a door and lock or open it, "Portab-lock" will help you.

Product Review

Tone Lab ST VOX's effects unit

(Overview)
Tone Lab ST is effects unit for the guitar. Once you plug this box into the guitar, it changes the guitar's sounds or adds various types of sounds and effects to its original sound.

(Features)
・Has 33 amp models, 11 cabinet modes which are like speakers having effect on the guitar's sounds hugely, and 25 effect models.
・Equipped with a vacuum tube on the left corner, which makes the sounds clearer and greater.
・Has noise reduction.

(Pros and Cons)
(+) Creates a wide range of sounds.
(+) Equipped with a vacuum tube, its sounds are clearer than other effects units.
(+) You can play various genres of music with only this effects unit.
(+) Cheaper than any other effects unit.
(+) Easy to control.
(+) You can make new sounds by mixing some effects it already has.

(-) Doesn't work without an AC adapter.
(-) You have to be really careful not to break the vacuum tube when carrying.
(-) Requires many cords to use this.
(-) Not all sounds and effects are perfect.

(Rating)
I give this effects unit a score of 7/10.

I think this one is suitable for beginners or those who don't want an expensive one. However, those who are looking for more professional sounds close to real ones may not want this. You can choose and create various types of sounds, but some ones sound very artificial and so unnatural, and even makes shrieking sounds.

Here's a video about this effects unit.
